Life Cycle of Cork. Yas... CORK

This is an example of what cork can do...

I am going to tell you a story of how cork is born. It goes like this:

Around the Mediterranean Sea, Mother Earth contains countries that have cork tree, such as Tunisia, Algeria, Spain, Morocco, Italy, and Portugal (owning the largest cork forest).

In order to retrieve the cork, the outer later of the bark has to be stripped down. *NO TREES WERE CUT DURING THE PROCESS* Which is awesome! The tree eventually grows another layer. Ha.

Machada is used to strip the tree down and a knife to make pieces smaller. It takes professionally skilled craftsmen
to separate the sleeve from the bark. This happens every 9 years. This rad hands-on process has low carbon footprint and helps trees live for a longer while. According to US Floor LLC, numbers are painted on trees. Now thats a way to keep track.

The strips are later taking to a curing yard where is graded and sorted, where all kinds of creations are made from cork: bottle stoppers, flooring, etc.

For flooring, specifically, veneer blocks are formed and applied to HDF panels, and taken to flooring planks, to of course, create floors. Clever, eh.

THIS IS A NUDE OF THE TREE. RATED A, FOR AWESOME.

Everyone decides to remodel their home sometime in their life. BUT, are they aware that cork flooring exists? Probably not. Cork flooring is one of the many eco-friendly flooring materials that exist, aside from bamboo, reclaimed wood, etc. Other types of flooring are known to be harmful; not only for our environment, but for our health too. Now, why would we want to go that route, when we can be kind to our environment and invest in eco-friendly materials. CORK! CORK! CORK!
